Spielberg and Aliens go together like a bum on a bologna sandwich. I'm sure your first choice isn't a bologna sandwich, but it is food, so they say. While there is plenty of action to help you get through this movie, you will still feel that long runtime, and even sometimes wonder why you are still sitting there watching this movie. I guess for Spielberg, we put up with a lot.
If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to … Disclosure Day.
Something this movie seemed to lack was character development. I feel like we did get there, but not until the last fifteen minutes of the movie. Most of the movie it just seems like the characters are running around searching, and we are just thrown into it not knowing what's going on. Now I will say I do like the idea of being thrown in and us as the audience needing to figure it out, but it seems like the movie puts too much work on us figuring it out, at the end, and doesn't give us the answers worth the payoff of this approach.
Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor do bring a lot on screen. They can both handle the scenes well together and when not together. Of course, Spielberg brings the action. When the movie is picking up and the action starts, it does very well and keeps you very excited. At times, it just drops off. We can be moving and things are happening so quickly and your heart is racing, just for the scene to halt and put on the breaks.
The action scenes are worth watching for this movie. Some will keep you in awe, and want to rewatch those scenes right away again.
This is the movie of the weekend, and you really don't want to miss it. There is a good amount of action during the film. You will want to get a large popcorn so you can fill in the gaps when the scenes get extra slow, or for the scenes you have to think too much during it.
DISCLOSURE DAY is in Theaters on June 12th, 2026.
Rating: 2 out of 5
