Sometimes a movie with limited characters doesn't always work out. Sometimes, less is more, and this is the case for SEND HELP. Just because it's mainly 2 actors on screen doesn't make this a bad thing. While this does work for this movie, there are some other things that fall flat. However, that doesn't mean you want to skip this movie.
In SEND HELP, two colleagues become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash. On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it's an unsettling, darkly humorous battle of wills and wits to make it out alive. SEND HELP is directed by genre-bending visionary Sam Raimi and stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien.
McAdams and O’Brien work so well together. O'Brien is that typical boss that is handed everything and shouldn't be the boss. McAdams plays the perfect portrayal of that crazy workaholic office lady that then would go crazy on a deserted island. The chemistry they have, even though its hatred, work so well together you'll believe in McAdams when she goes crazy and goes all survivor.
You may think there may be too much blood and gore in this movie, but it actually works out well. It's not too overused, but also enough is used to make you jump in your seat. The film also has a few twists and turns that will make you question things as they go. While some of the movie's ideas are predictable, there's enough going on in the movie to keep you on edge until the end of the movie.
This is not your typical January release movie. This movie is not meant to be released when no one will watch it. You will want to see this movie because everyone is going to be talking about it after opening weekend.
Get your popcorn, get your co-workers. You need to all watch SEND HELP together so you can take notes, get ready for your work retreat, and just enjoy a movie that will make you jump and cover your eyes at times.
