Roofman is a drama crime film that stars Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst, and it completely surprised me. It tells the real story of Jeffrey Manchester, and from the start, the movie pulls you in with its charm and heart. I only saw two trailers before watching it, and I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but the film does a great job of setting up who Jeffrey is and why we should care about him, even though he’s a criminal.

Usually, when a movie says it’s based on a true story, you expect things to be exaggerated or feel too unbelievable. But this one feels so real and grounded that you stay locked into it the entire time. The story moves naturally, and there’s this warmth to it that makes you forget you’re watching a crime movie. Channing Tatum carries the film with an incredible performance, showing so many sides of Jeffrey: funny, caring, clever, and flawed. He doesn’t do it alone though. The supporting cast, including Kirsten Dunst, really helps build the story around him and make the world feel alive.

The movie also captures the feeling of the holidays perfectly. The lights, the music, the tone, it all adds to this feeling that you’re watching something both emotional and real. What really stood out to me was the family aspect of the story. It gives the film its heart. You really see how far someone will go for the people they care about, even when it means crossing the line. The movie does something rare; it makes you root for a criminal, and you don’t even realize it until you catch yourself cheering him on.

Another thing that impressed me was how well the movie handled the church aspect of Jeffrey’s story. You’d think that would take the audience out of the film, but instead it added a whole new layer to his character and made him even more interesting. It shows the humanity behind his actions and his desire for connection and redemption.

Overall, Roofman is a charming, heartfelt, and surprisingly warm film. It’s funny at times, emotional when it needs to be, and deeply engaging from start to finish. It almost feels like a holiday movie with a criminal twist, and I mean that in the best way. I definitely recommend this one, it’s one of those rare true-story films that feels real, entertaining, and full of heart. Be prepared to see a little more of Channing Tatum than you might expect.

ROOFMAN is only in Theatres on October 10th, 2025.
