'The Protege' opens in theaters nationwide Friday, August 20th, 2021.

'The Protege' turned out to be better than originally thoight. I am sure most people don't know about this one, or have even watched a trailer for this movie. This one seems like a well kept secret.

Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled contract killer. But when Moody – the man who was like a father to her and taught her everything she needs to know about trust and survival – is brutally killed, Anna vows revenge. As she becomes entangled with an enigmatic killer (Michael Keaton) whose attraction to her goes way beyond cat and mouse, their confrontation turns deadly and the loose ends of a life spent killing will weave themselves ever tighter.

Maggie Q is one assassin you do not want to mess with. She protrays an assassin that is not seen too often (think John Wick). She doesn't always win, and gets beat up too. It's not like those movies where the main character can do no wrong and never get a scratch on them. This one seems more realistic, and Maggie Q is perfect for the role.

Samuel L. Jackson has a role in this film too, while he doesn't do too many action stunts, he does just enough to make you want to see more of him on screen.

Michael Keaton was the perfect villian for this film. The tension on screen between him and Maggie Q was perfect! He even knew how to make us laugh and feel the chemistry they had on screen. So he was the perfecr comic relief when we needed, and the drive in the movie to keep going forward.

This is a perfect movie that will keep you engaged with the amount of action and fight scenes. I will say make sure you get a large bucket of popcorn, for those slow scenes. There are not that many slow scenes, but the popcorn will help for sure!
