'Stuber' Funny For What It Is - Ashley's Review

Stuber is in theaters on July 12th, 2019.

Dave Bautista plays Vic, a Detective who’s set on solving a case against a drug dealer by the name of Oka Teijo(Iko Uwais). When Vic needs a ride his daughter, Nicole (Natalie Morales) calls him an Uber. A timid driver, Stu(Kumail Nanjiani) who’s on the verge of losing his 5 star rating comes to pick up Vic. Stu gets thrust into solving this crime and they go on a wild adventure.

I thought the chemistry between Dave and Kumail was great, they were hilarious together and it was pretty entertaining. I would like to see Dave in more movies and comedic roles.

The story was so-so, one of those movies where you just turn your brain off and try to enjoy it. It was pretty funny and I would watch it again. There’s a bit of violence and gore but it all fits in with the overall ascetic of the film.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5
