- Read Ashley's review of 'Spiral' A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
'Spiral' opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, May 14th, 2021.
Chris Rock is back on the big screen in a role we haven’t quite seen before. Det. Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks, played by Chris Rock is learning how to come out from his fathers shadow Marcus Banks (Samuel L. Jackson), who used to run his department. When Zeke starts to receive packages in the mail, it becomes clear there’s a new Jigsaw killer. As Zeke uncovers clues and starts to discover there more than just a copycat, this killer has made it personal.
The movie is intended to be a spin-off of the Saw movies, adding even more of a story and thriller element. There are horrible ways they torture and kill people, no shortage of that if you like this franchise. I’m a big fan of horror and will watch just about any horror movie. I felt the story was entertaining and I think if you’ve been following this series, you will see this one is very different but still has those horror elements to it.
