Uncle Drew is a Forced Joke - Ashley K's Review

Uncle Drew is in theaters on June 29th, 2018.

I’m not ashamed to admit I know nothing about basketball. I didn’t even know who Kyrie Irving was! I’m slowly learning about sports so bare with me here!

Kyrie Irving plays Uncle Drew, he basically dresses up like an old man to fool people on the basketball court. Uncle Drew is recruited by Dax (Lil Rel Howery) to play in the Rucker Classic Street ball tournament. So drew gets all his friends together (these are OLD men - I’m talking wheel chairs and blindness) to compete in the tournament.

The funniest part of this movie is seeing a bunch of “old” men get back into the game despite their ailments. This film has an all star cast but I gotta say Shaq stole the show! I also loved Betty Lou (Lisa Leslie), she was fierce and is apparently the greatest female basketball player of all time! See I’m learning!

This movie was pretty funny but I also felt like it was missing some plot points, the jokes seemed a little forced and storyline predictable. Honestly though, if you’re looking for something fun to watch or you just need to watch something sports - you’ll have a good time with this one.
