Review: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Will Rogue One make you go Rogue?
If you are one of the few people reading this review who hasn't seen Rogue One yet, then I'm not sure what you're doing with your life. You should be out there watching the movie, not reading this review. While we have you here, go ahead and finish reading this review so you can confirm you need to get off your phone and watch the movie.

Before the movie even starts, people might think they are confused on where this movie lies in the whole series. This movie is a prequel to Force Awakens (7), but doesn't follow the Force Awakens story line. This movie is more about the Death Star. Who built it, why, and the way to destroy it. Ok now that's out of the way.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a mix of a Summer Blockbuster that went right, with the goodness of an original movie that happens to be in a series. I know that's a mouthful, but it fits. The movie has the right amount of action, story, romance/love interest flirting, and comic relief that a summertime blockbuster has. This movie carries its own story along even though its in line of the Star Wars series. Yes, I understand it can't really be original because Star Wars exists, but if you were to watch this movie with no Star Wars knowledge, you will still like the movie.

Rogue One does bring back characters that you loved from the original Star Wars that will cause the audience in the theater to clap and cheer. This movie just leads you on to watch more, weather its another movie that they will make, or even re-watching the original Star Wars. This movie will make you do things you thought you didn't need to do again.

Sadly there was no end credit scene in this movie. So don't waste your time waiting around.

3 out of 5

Your spoiler makes me sad, lol (and I haven't seen it yet so probably should not have read it ... oops).

Thanks for the tips re: end credit scene, I won't wait around for it.

Enjoyed reading your review. I'm one of those military veterans who hasn't seen it yet. Christmas and life got in the way besides there was no advanced screening offered in my area. Thanks for the spoilers though.

Very impressive. For a prequel the story was very interesting and the build-up was exciting to connect this movie to the next movie in the series. Job Well Done. Also, another well written review coming out of the "Mind On Movies" camp.

So good. R1 stands on its own but also fits well into the ORIGINAL trilogy. I always thought growing up, why didn't they make more Star Wars stories into film like this one?

Saw this movie the week of release. It surpassed my expectations... especially since I am not a huge Star Wars Fan... I now need to watch the episodes to better understand.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the first two acts, but loved the last act, once the mission started.
