What makes Divergent different?
Now this movie is based off of a book, and of course you will have people review it compared to the book. However good news is, I have not read the book, so this review is solely off the movie alone. This movie is one of those soccer mom or tween girl type of movie. This will not be for the masses of the rest of us.
Divergent is your typical movie. It is similar to The Hunger Games and Twilight, as the movie acts like it is for that type of audience and needs to be treated as so. Now the cast in the movie do know what they are doing. They can keep the audience believing what is going on, on screen.
Should you head out to the theater and see this movie, not really. It is a movie you can predict what's going to happen, and because the book is a trilogy, you know the movie won't really have a complete ending, as there will be more movies to follow just like the book.
The concept of the movie doesn't really make sense. No one has ever went against going into one of the 5 jobs and fighting the leader. It is hard to believe that no one in America would have fought against the system they have set up.
Now of course once you watch this movie, you will be stuck watching the next ones as you will want to see whats going to happen next up after this event. I just hope they move it along rather quickly to keep me involved.
What would I have changed? (Spoilers)
Because this movie is a book, you would have to change the book to end up changing the movie. I would have added more action scenes then were in the movie to keep the audience more tuned in the show. They should have killed the leader Jeanine, that would have saved a lot of time, because I'm sure she will come up in the future movies.
