I know what you're thinking... 'How did this movie get green lit after that last one?' I would have to agree with you. I didn't even know they were making a third film in this series until I saw the trailer. With that out of the way, this film is similar to the first. It has the charm and clues hidden for you to solve the case with Poirot.

A HAUNTING IN VENICE is set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve and is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

You may have seen the trailers for this movie already, but they have been good at hiding who gets murdered and any spoiler information. This will make you enjoy the movie even more. When going in, you'll be watching everything to see any clues, and yes, there are clues, to see who got murdered and who was the murderer.

The character development is what shines most in this movie. You feel engaged and you feel attached to each and every character. You will watch this movie knowing so much about each character you'll end up feeling attached and creating a sense of feeling for each person on screen.

While the movie is a clever murder mystery, there are a few jump scares in the movie. With the timing of Halloween, and the spirit world background, I can see and enjoy the jump scares they included. It just adds another element to throw you off when you are trying to solve the case.

I will have to say, I was not able to solve the case. Of course, when Poirot solved the case and explained it, I then was like, woah, I missed so much. This one may need a second watch for the clues, now that I know what I need to look for.

Let me know if you were able to solve the case before Poirot was able to say what truly happened.

A HAUNTING IN VENICE will open in theaters nationwide September 15th, 2023.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5
