'Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore' is the highly anticipated film from the Wizarding World. As Grindelwald continues to push for pure-blood domination, Dumbledore gathers a team to stop his plans. As the adventure unfolds, it answers the question: is the third time a charm for this prequel franchise?

The Secrets of Dumbledore brings back the charm to the Wizarding World with captivating cinematography, characters, and creatures. It was entertaining to be transported into the story visually. Jumping deeper into the backstory set the foundation for audiences to be more connected with the plot.

With Grindelwald’s portrayer being changed for the third time, Mads Mikkelsen did a great job of showing why he was chosen for the role. His performance, in addition with the new and returning cast, was fantastic to watch with the beasts along their side. I recommend watching at least the previous two Fantastic Beast movies before jumping into this installment.

As many themes unfold, fans will quickly recognize some plot holes. While they take away some of the film’s splendor, it does add a mysterious, dark element to the plot similar to that of the last book and movies. It was interesting to see the Fantastic Beasts movie take a turn from its whimsical nature to something much darker and serious leaving viewers to wonder what that will mean going forward.

Even if you are not a fan of the series, there is a lot packed into nearly two and a half hours. The visual depth the Secrets of Dumbledore brings is enough to mask the plot holes for fans of the Wizarding World. It is a charming sequel that can be watched again and again.

'Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore' is in theaters on April 15th, 2022.
