'Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar' is in Theaters and on PVOD on February 12th, 2021.

If you’re looking for a good time with plenty of frills, laughs, and quirky bits courtesy of Kristen Wiig, Annie Mumolo, and a deluge of surprise guests, then look no further. “Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar” may not be comparable to the masterpiece of “Bridesmaids” which Wiig and Mumolo also wrote together, but it sure is a hilarious, mindless way to spend 100 minutes. Kristen Wiig must be enjoying channeling her villainous side after last year’s “Wonder Woman 1984” because she doubles here as a villain seeking revenge for a trauma-inducing moment of childhood ridicule.

Jamie Dornan plays her evil sidekick and unrequited lover, Edgar, who is sent to Vista Del Mar to do her dirty work. He’s mostly here to ogle at, which is maybe why he’s given an unnecessary musical interlude to frolic around a beach with seagulls. However, the rest of the soundtrack is a delight: never would I have imagined such joy from hearing “Cheeseburger in Paradise” transition into a remix of “My Heart Will Go On.”

While there’s a deeper lesson to be taught at the very end, come for Wiig and Mumolo’s sketch comedy chops and crude banter as middle-aged best friends Barb and Star.
