1917 is in select theaters on December 25th, 2019.

1917 hits theatres EVERYWHERE on January 10th! I will say, I did not care at all to see this film. It looked boring and I’m not really a big fan of war movies. But holy cow!!!!! This movie was perfect. Not just story wise, but it was visually stunning! Sam Mendes definitely wanted the audience to feel the pain of suffering along with the bittersweet triumph that being a soldier really is.

This movie is a true story about two young soldiers who must race against time and cross into enemy territory to deliver a message that could potentially save 1,600 of their fellow soldiers, including one of their own brothers.

This movie was truly perfect. Everything about this movie from the scenes, the visuals, actors and the soundtrack were fantastic. Director Sam Mendes pulls off making this film looks like it runs in a series, without any cuts. This movie is very beautiful to look at, even during the smallest scenes. The casting was excellent, especially with a star stunning performance from George MacKay. He better AT LEAST be nominated for an Oscar. The music definitely created the perfect amount of triumph and intensity. It knew when to be silent and then went to be loud and triumphant.

Moments where they were quietly walking in no mans land impacted me and made me feel so anxious. It really had audiences dig deep into their consciousness, well at least I can speak for myself and say it did for me. It shows the hardships soldiers are faced with. Yeah, we are aware they go through so much, but this movie definitely makes you feel like you’re there with them hoping to survive and deliver the message. I had so much anxiety watching this movie and was really hoping they both made it (no spoilers here).

This is a must see movie. Don’t judge the movie too soon. It’s seriously incredible, take it from me. The person who had no desire to watch this movie. Best movie of 2019, hands down.

Rating: 5 out of 5
