Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is in theaters on August 9th, 2019.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark tells a the story of Stella, (Zoe Margaret Colletti) and her group of friends that discover a mysterious book in a haunted house with scary stories written about them in real-time. The film has the feel of Netflix's Stranger Things considering that it's a horror film based around teens in 1968 in small town America. There's very little character development other than Stella and her father Roy (Dean Norris), but ultimately this doesn't affect the story much in the end.

The movie breaks down into several short horror stories, similar to the original Scholastic kids books from the 80's. If you're familiar with the stories, you'll appreciate getting to see some of your favorites brought to the big screen such as "The Haunted House", "The Red Spot", "Harold", and my personal favorite "The Dream".

Be prepared for some solid jump scares which include sudden LOUD noises with the scary monsters and long, inescapable scary moments leading to the characters’ impending doom.
