Us is in theaters on March 22nd, 2019.

Jordan Peele stunned the world when his movie, Get Out, had so much success and for great reason. It was intense, suspenseful, and even gave you something to think about. When going into the next widely talked about movie from a director, it’s usually best not to go in thinking “I hope this is as good as ---". After the predecessor being Get Out, it was a little hard to do that.

Us as a standalone film is frighteningly brilliant. The acting of Lupita Nyong'o is beyond the best I’ve seen in this genre in a very long time. She portrays the very best of showing how utterly terrifying it can be to come toe-to-toe with your own demented duplicate. The story had me sucked into the screen and pressed into my seat. It takes what you know about routing for the hero, and turns it completely upside down. It will leave you with some questions, but that just might be the beauty of it. True thrilling horror doesn’t need an explanation. Although we might appreciate an easy explanation, it is utterly more horrifying to not know. The human mind is then left to wonder “but what if", and if it’s one thing the brain is good at, it’s that we can come up with the most deranged and lunatic theories.

This movie has a deeper understanding that you may not get at first and that’s okay. After going down a crazy rabbit hole of theories and explanations, it might just spark your own take on this movie. Us deserves to be seen on the big screen so that you can fully take in this absolutely massive thrilling adventure and I recommend it 100%.
