Each year at Christmas they disrupt his tranquil solitude with their increasingly bigger, brighter and louder celebrations. When the Whos declare they are going to make Christmas three times bigger this year, the Grinch realizes there is only one way for him to gain some peace and quiet: he must steal Christmas. To do so, he decides he will pose as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, even going so far as to trap a lackadaisical misfit reindeer to pull his sleigh.
The Grinch is in theaters on November 9th, 2018.
The Grinch is Illumination Entertainment’s version of the classic story about the Christmas hating green guy. It has become an almost ubiquitous tradition to watch the Grinch steal the holiday every year. Can the 2018 version be added to the list of the ones to watch annually?
Having grown up watching this tale I was excited to see that a new one was coming out. I was not disappointed as they took on a new approach to the story. Everything was modernized and aesthetically pleasing to watch. Illumination as usual delivered graphics and visuals that are sure to be remembered.
Another different approach they used was making the characters more emotionally aware. Instead of having the Grinch be completely shut off emotionally, they threw in small moments where he showed various positive emotions. It makes him more likable and for a new twist in the story. Also sweet little Cindy Lou Who will tug at your heart strings in another way in this version besides just her adorable pigtails.
The music in the Grinch is sure to get you in the holiday mood. Whoever was in charge of the soundtrack did an excellent job at choosing songs for everyone ranging from classic Christmas to a more hip hop Christmas.
If you are a fan of the Grinch then I recommend that you watch him in his modern form. It takes you through a visually entertaining range of emotions while listening to some perfectly picked music.
