The HappyTime Murders is in theaters on August 24th, 2018.

Melissa McCarthy stars as detective Connie Edwards alongside a puppet detective by the name of Phil Phillips voiced by Bill Barretta. They team up to investigate a string of murders - all of the puppets murdered starred in a TV show called “The Happytime Gang”.

While this movie tries to address some issues with segregation and inclusion - it misses the mark in pretty much all aspects. The movie starts out great - I was all in! Super funny, very raunchy (I tried to keep an open mind and not be offended), towards the middle it just falls flat and carries that tone throughout the rest of the movie. It made me disappointed because I root for these niche genre films that I’m sure are very hard to get into production. I did enjoy the twist at the end though!

I’m all about puppets, and I like seeing all kinds of movies. If you’re going to watch this you already know what you’re in for. Think Team America meets any random detective film you’ve seen - with puppets of course.
