Alpha is in theaters on August 17th, 2018.

You might have seen some trailers for the new movie Alpha, and think to your self that this might just be a good film for the family. Now I do agree that this is a family style movie, the trailer, and movie itself seems a little misleading.

I will label this next part as a spoiler alert, only because you may not know this until you watch the movie. However the spoiler here is something the studio should have let you known before you watch the movie. The movie is all subtitled. The characters in the movie speak no english, so you are left to read the movie. Now it's not the fact that I hate subtitles, because you end up reading the movie and miss what's happening on the screen, it's the fact that they didn't market the movie like it was going to be subtitled, so you have no idea going in.

The movie itself isn't bad. The movie runtime is short enough where it's ok your stuck reading it. The visual and scenery are on point for the style and time period of the movie. The effects they create between the wolf (Alpha) and the main character (Kodi Smit-McPhee) are insanely accrete. It will look like a real wolf the entire movie.

Kodi Smit-McPhee, the main character, pulls his weight in the movie as a new/ish actor, and I'm sure he will be great in some future films. We better all watch out for him.

I think if you're looking for a family film to help the kids get back into the school time spirit, this is the movie for them. They can finish off there summer time reading by reading this movie, and enjoying the story of Alpha.
