Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.

While I did have fun with this film, it is very surface level and left me disappointed. Starting off with the casting of Alden Ehrenreich (previously seen in “Hail, Caesar” and “Beautiful Creatures”) as Han Solo, he did his job...but it will always be hard to see him as the iconic character. Donald Glover (previously seen in “The Martian” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming”) absolutely killed it as Lando! He had the slickness of the famous character down perfectly.

Over all with the storytelling, I do not understand why this film was made. There was little to no audience asking for it and while watching it there are many references showing how he got all of his iconic trade marks but they all felt forced. The pacing in this film is also very rough. I think all of these issues are due to the multiple directors on the project. And with all of this being said, I am not going to recommend this film to many except for the die hard Star Wars fans.

Rating: 3 out of 5
