Mind on Movies wants to share with you our installment series for Christmas Movies. Tune in each week to see the what the next genre will be and the picks for the movies.

This is the first installment in a four week series of Christmas movies! Each week I’ll pick a genre and three movies that are worth watching. Sometimes they will be classic movies and sometimes new movies. So to start off I’m going with one of my favorite genres...Horror! That’s right, I’m starting with horror because it’s not a popular genre for Christmas movies but there is SO much potential! So here we go....

1. Krampus - this is a movie about the German legend of Krampus, a Demon who punishes children for being naughty, basically the opposite of Santa Claus. This movie stars Adam Scott and Toni Collete, a husband and wife who tries to protect their family from the beast. This movie is rated PG-13, and honestly it’s not that scary. To me it’s more campy and fun, I especially love the cute evil little gingerbread men! You can stream this on HBOGO.

2. P2 - I would say this is more suspense than horror but it’s definitely scary. I’ve always liked this movie and thought it was really underrated. The film is about Angela(Rachel Nichols), a business woman who’s working late on Christmas Eve and Thomas(Wes Bentley) who is a security guard. Basically she gets trapped in the parking structure and realizes Thomas is a creep who’s always been obsessed with her. It’s about her escaping her captor and it’s really suspenseful! Girl power! I couldn’t find this on any streaming service but you can buy it on iTunes.

3. Better Watch Out - This movie just came out this year, I can’t really say too much or it will ruin the plot twists. Luke(Levi Miller) is a 12 year boy who’s parents have their regular babysitter, Ashley(Olivia DeJonge) to come watch their son while they go out for the night. After a series of events she ends up defending herself and Luke against intruders. Think home alone with a twist! Dacre Montgomery is also in this movie for all you Stranger Things fans. I couldn’t find this on any streaming service but you can buy it on iTunes.

Runner up - I obviously couldn’t make this list without mentioning Gremlins! Most likely you’ve seen it, if you haven’t it’s about these adorable little creatures called Gremlins but don’t feed them after midnight or get them wet! You can stream this on Netflix.

Have you seen any of these movies? Did I peak your interest? Do you have a favorite Christmas Scary movie that I didn’t list? Comment below! Also, stay tuned for next weeks edition!
