I saw the first GREENLAND when it came out in 2020, I thought it was an excellent action popcorn flick. I’ve talked to a few people who haven’t seen it and have no idea what I’m talking about, so if you haven’t seen the first one, please go stream it so you’re not missing out!

GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION takes place following the events of the first film. A comet named Clarke, impacts the earth which causes irreparable destruction to the planet. There is radiation poisoning, fighting for resources, and natural disasters that people have never seen before. While all of these horrific things are happening, there are people who were “selected” to live in safe bunkers around the world, one of them being…you guessed it, Greenland! The movie follows John Garrity (Gerard Butler), he’s an engineer who was chosen to live in the bunkers with his wife, Allison (Morena Baccarin) and their now teenage son, Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis).

The film starts off where the first one left off, just a few years later. We see John now explores outside of the bunker despite the health challenges due to radiation exposure. When he is exploring, we see how the landscape of the planet has changed and how things might not go back to the way they were. When they are in the bunker, one of the doctors, Dr. Casey Amina (Amber Rose Revah) says she has a theory that where the crater hit, life could potentially be blossoming, from water to grass, fertile soil and clean air, it can be a fresh start…if they could only get there. While she says this is only her theory, it’s one that is taken to heart, and the Garrity family is faced with a choice of survival, do they chance it and see what happens?

The first film was an absolute masterpiece, I truly loved it. Honestly, I love any Gerard Butler movie, he is one of my favorite actors and I have a great time watching his films. I think he’s an incredible actor with and I will watch anything he is in. If you’re a fan like I am, or just observant, you’ll notice Den of Thieves and the sequel had the same cadence as these. The first movie super action packed, popcorn flick, the second one, a little more serious with a different tone. They almost feel like different movies all together. Both sequels had the same vibe and stylistically felt similar. If you like action, disaster, dystopian type movies this one definitely fits that bill. I think they did a great job of capturing humanity at its worst. Some scenes made me squirm with anxiety but I guess that what makes it so entertaining. I honestly thought the movie could have been longer with more parts flushed out. If you liked the first one, I think you will enjoy this one as well.
