The Ghostbusters are back in NYC and ready to take on some feisty ghosts! Picking up where Ghostbusters: Afterlife left off, the Spengler family is proton packed and capturing ghosts all over NYC. Phoebe (McKenna Grace), Trevor (Finn Wolfhard), their mom Callie (Carrie Coon) and former teacher/mom’s partner Gary (Paul Rudd) all move to NYC and into the old firehouse.
Phoebe takes the lead in this sequel, she is benched by the mayor for being underage and working; frustrated that she can’t fight ghosts, she ends up becoming friends with one, Melody (Emily Alyn Lind) which is something new that we haven’t seen in a Ghostbusters movie.
Without giving out too many spoliers, Dr. Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Dr.Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dr..Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) all return in some way to help the Spengler family with a very large angry ghost. Also joining the movie is Nadeem Razmaad (Kumail Nanjiani) who is a pretty cool new addition to the team.
Overall the movie was entertaining, although I do wish the plot was more spread out amongst the characters, I would’ve liked to see more funny scenes with Trevor and a certain nostalgic ghost! Also cannot get enough of the original cast and it would have been so nice to see more scenes with them in it. The special effects were great especially when giving it the 80’s look that we’ve seen throughout the films. I’m so happy the crew is back in NYC and look forward to many more movies with the franchise!
