'Jurassic World Dominion' is same excitement on repeat

You would think uniting the original Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill with the new cast of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard would bring together different generations and please everyone. I am here to say get in your seat buckle. While this movie does bring together everyone, it lacks so much more than it could have been.

'Jurassic World Dominion' takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

The film starts with what you think will be an epic battle scene between a sea dinosaur and a shipperman's boat. That is short-lived as it moves into a slow-moving plot that makes you keep begging for more dinosaur encounters. Somehow, we are living in a world with dinosaurs, but we don't see any dinosaur fight scenes until we are back on the island that is supposed to hold all the dinosaurs. I will say, the fight scenes we do see are epic, you will just want more of them.

They reference the very first 'Jurassic Park' movie a lot in this one. So much so, some of the scenes seem like direct copies from the original film. At first it was clever, then it just gets overused and you feel like you're watching the same movie you've already watched so many times before.

Bringing back things like the Barbosol Shaving Cream, and some real original villains was a nice way for this movie to tie the knot, not only in its own trilogy, but also in the original series.

I would say you must get the largest popcorn you can get, and just ignore all logic. This is the true way to enjoy this film. While most stuff won't make any sense while you watch the film, it's good to just go for a summer blockbuster of fun!

'Jurassic World Dominion' is in Theaters on June 10th, 2022

Rating: 3 out of 5
