Little Women is in theaters on December 25th, 2019.

Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely.

This version of Little Women is probably the best one. While it has flash backs, it has a perfect cast for the film, and keeps you invested in what the characters are going through.

While this movie relies on flashbacks, the issue is it is hard to tell the difference between the characters from childhood to adulthood. They use the same actors, they just change the hair style a bit. So if you are not paying attention, you may not know what time you are placed in while watching it.

If you are looking for a movie to watch during the holiday break, this is the movie. It will put you just in the right mood.
