If you are a fan of Batman you probably know about the Joker, however Joaquin Phoenix takes him to a place unforeseen. It is difficult to know what to expect from this movie at first glance which helps to build the Joker’s unpredictable nature. Phoenix delivers a performance that is dark and twisted in a way that is sure to be remembered. He demanded interest while also remaining in the shadows with is a sight to see.

This film is dark and gloomy with several scenes where it is hard to know whether to laugh or be afraid. This is what works best about Joker because it takes viewers to the thin line between humor and fear and consistently teeters back and forth between the two. It is intense to watch but hard to take your eyes off of it.

Joker is a cinematic masterpiece that needs to be experienced in theaters. Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the villain was violently mesmerizing under the vision of director Todd Phillips. It is an origin story of a well-known character that still manages to evoke chills.
