The Meg is in theaters on August 10, 2018.

Jason Statham plays Jonas Taylor, a retired deep sea rescuer who gets recruited to dive again to save his ex-wife and colleagues at the bottom of the ocean. Now when I say bottom of the ocean I actually mean the ocean under the ocean that is covered by a thermal ice layer which is what keeps The Megalodon under....believable right?! The Megalodon -by the way, is a giant prehistoric shark who is about 60 feet long -that’s three times the size of a great white!

This movie was great, super entertaining, funny, and absolutely ridiculous which is probably what you’re looking for if you are going to see this movie.

One thing that I was not expecting was the attention to sea life conservation. They allude to Sea Shepherd, show the effects of shark poaching, and even pollution in the reefs! It was really nice to see issues being raised even though this movie is a fun summer flick and not some kind of documentary. I don’t know if I’ve seen a movie ever that sheds light on these specific issues.

If you liked Sharknado, Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, ect... you’ll like this one.
