The Bookshop is in select theaters on August 31st, 2018.

The Bookshop is a sweet movie that takes place in the little town of Hardborough, England. With a passion and love for reading novels, Florence Green sets out to fulfill her dream. Finding the perfect home to open the bookshop she’s always wanted didn’t take long. However, the controversy and negation that went with it was nothing that Florence (Emily Mortimer) had expected. Although she was disliked by many, due to her dreams of turning an old house into a bookshop, she set fourth anyways.

Whilst overcoming any obstacles thrown her way Florence quickly and unknowingly, gained a little side kick (Honor Kneafsey) and a best friend (Bill Nighy). Those two people would have the biggest impact on the future of the Old House Bookshop. This film delves in and unmasks the real truth of politics and class within the olden days. However, still slightly holding true within today’s society too; when a person of lower class has a dream in a rich man’s world. I enjoyed watching this film unravel and the end will definitely take you by surprise. Emily Mortimer played a wonderful role, as did Honor Kneafsey (Christine). I found this film to be perfect for a rainy day and will definitely be recommending it to others! It is a slower movie and like many others has room for improvement, but it is one that I think many will enjoy.
