TAG is in theaters on June 15th, 2018.

Tag follows five friends who have been playing the same game of tag for 30 years. The competition takes place in May as they have reached adulthood and the stakes are high as one player has never been tagged. When the four find out the one untouched player is getting married, they see it as their chance to finally beat him at a game that seems it was made for him.

Based on the trailers and the cast I figured this movie would be worth the watch for the silliness and laughs. It lived up to the hype as the story took off from the beginning and never slowed up as the friend group would stop at nothing to tag each other during the competition.

I was also surprised with who I thought was the funniest character as Isla Fisher stole the spotlight. She played her role as Anna, Hoagie’s (Ed Helms) wife, so well that I found myself wanting her to get more screen time as she was the ultimate hype-woman for the game.

The only thing I had an issue with was the storyline was a little choppy and had a few scenes that could have been left out. Also the overplayed fighting over a woman bit was used and randomly used Rashida Jones in a way that could have definitely been left out. It felt like a lame cop out to include conflict when there was already enough from Jerry (Jeremy Renner) never have been tagged before.

Overall Tag was hilarious and can bring out your inner competitive side. Seeing the friends being brought together for a seemingly childish game was fun and different for today’s comedy movies. Also stay a bit after the movie is over because there are clips from the men the movie is based on and their real game of tag which may inspire you to reconnect with old friends and start up your own game of tag.
